Energy Healing
Energy healing is a broad term that describes treatment through connecting to subtle energy/life force that flows through and around the body (and all beings). Intuitively guided and intentional hand placement on or off the body helps reorganise, replenish and balance the energetic field that supports our vitality and healing capacity.
In this energy healing practice, there is respect and reverence of each person’s journey in life, of science, and of spirituality. We strive to operate from a place of humility, knowing that what we might want to feel or experience inside and outside a session may or may not transpire in the time we want it to, or in the way we would expect it to. For example, while catharsis and abreactions may occur, they are not persued, but rather welcomed if they are meant to be expressed. Here are some principles that sustain this practice:
1. Sessions are collaborative - the practitioner co-creates a safe and loving environment with the participant, so the willing and resourced individual can yield into the session and allow the body to self-adjust.
2. We intend to “allow and support” rather than “force and demand”.
3. We aim to radically listen to ourselves, others, and our environment.
4. We welcome all emerging information (feelings, visuals, sensations, movements), even if it cannot be intellectually understood.
5. We view every being as having innate intelligence, from its spiritual to its atomic levels.
6. We understand that everyone progresses at a unique pace.
7. We respect the nature of trauma therapy, and therefore create safety by emphasizing moments of self-organization and ease.
8. We consider the concept of mirrors - other people and our surroundings can help us see what we cannot readily perceive on our own.
9. We acknowledge our free-will - sessions are filled with invitations, we have the ability to make conscious choices.
10. We appreciate the spiritual nature of this practice, where spiritual beliefs of all kinds can coexist.
11. The practitioner continues self-care and education to check her own default modes and biases for sensible interpretation of information and for the ensurance of relevant and sound techniques.
12. The practitioner must understand her own being’s direct impact in the session - her self-awareness is imperative for the well-being of the participant.
13. The practitioner understands that she abides by the scope of practice from her specific trainings, and will refer the participant to other practitioners/resources as needed.
CranioSacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a light touch approach that can create dramatic improvements in your life. It releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction which in turn can help to improve the whole body's health and performance. As time goes on, we endure stresses and strains and overtime our bodies absorb them. We can only handle so much tension before the tissues begin to tighten and potentially affect optimal function. Once this threshold is met, disfunction can occur within our whole being including the central nervous system and eventually every other system within.
A variety of conditions that are inflammatory in nature may begin to develop in adults starting in their thirties and onward. What may seem like minor issues at first can gain momentum and cause severe problems and complications as we age if the inflammatory response is not being managed.
CST releases the tensions to allow the entire body to relax and auto correct by using a gentle touch technique. This therapy naturally eliminates pain and stress, strengthens our resistance to disease and enhances our health and well-being. Because it is such a gentle therapy it can be effective for all ages from newborns to elders.
Some conditions that can be managed are Osteoporosis, Headaches/Migraines, Arthritis, Scoliosis, Alzheimer's/Dementia, Chronic fatigue, TMJ syndrome and ADD/ADHD. CST can also assist with neurological balancing which may help with stabilizing sleep patterns, improve balance and vestibular control and help with anxiety and depression.
Craniosacral therapy is performed fully clothed.
